Jalousie
For the third year summer project we were asked to design a 'jalousie', a dividing screen.
My design was based around a piece called 'Halasana' for drum kit and piano that I have enjoyed playing for years. The piece, by Louis Cauborghs, is set around a delayed beat which is very playful and enjoyable to listen to. It is a very complicated piece and sounds completely improvised when played but it works very well with the piano. I decided to pick out the bars of the piece that used the delayed beat and translate that into a structure.
